Program Summary
In small Dalmatian towns, usualy the best recommendation on where to eat home-made fish can be given by fishermen because they know best in which catering facilities their catch ends. In order to raise this information to a higher level and pass it on to domestic and foreign guests, we designed the programme "Fishermen recommend" which shall contribute to increased visibility of these restaurants and their better positioning in the market.
The programme has been implemented in the fisheries area of LAGUR Galeb since 2017.
The purpose of the programme is to create a quality label that will be awarded to catering facilities - the first buyers of fish (as defined in Croatian Marine Fisheries Act). The quality label will be a signpost for foreign and domestic tourists in our area that will lead them to catering facilities offering local fishery and aquaculture products. The successful implementation of the project will help establish our area as a tourist destination with exceptional natural and cultural heritage and a rich gastronomic offer based on fishery products.
Legal frame
Article 43 of the Marine Fisheries Act, OG 62/17, 130/17, 14/19, allows food business operators engaged in catering to be registered as the first buyers of fish.
